David Walliams spreads Christmas magic with new book Santa & Son

On Monday, 20th October, in collaboration with Wolverhampton Grammar School, beloved children’s author, David Walliams celebrated the festive season by launching his brand-new Christmas book, Santa & Son, published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.

At a special event held at the Grand Station in Wolverhampton, hundreds of children from Wolverhampton Grammar School and 26 neighbouring schools came together to share in the joy of storytelling and ignite a love of reading across the city. 

Santa & Son tells the heartwarming and hilarious story of Santa Claus’s son a toy shop Santa and his son stepping up to foil a robbery and save Christmas, bringing David's signature humour and warmth to a new generation of readers. The event was filled with festive spirit and laughter, perfectly capturing the joy of the season. Moreover, it offered children an unforgettable opportunity to meet David Walliams in person, enjoy live storytelling and receive signed copies of the book.

This partnership with Wolverhampton Grammar School reflected a shared desire to inspire children throughout Wolverhampton to discover the magic of books and reading. David's event exemplified the outstanding commitment of Wolverhampton Grammar School to grow lifelong readers, young minds and big dreams, for which the school's Jenyns Library is a finalist in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2025 for Outstanding Educational Partnerships.

David’s event was truly magical for every child who was in attendance. At Wolverhampton Grammar School, we are committed to providing all children with opportunities that will empower them as readers. Our work to inspire a love of reading has reached hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren. Today, David has brought festive magic, laughter and warmth to children from across our city, and he also personally signed over 700 copies of ‘Santa and Son’. Thanks to David and HarperCollins Children’s Books, so many children will leave this unforgettable event with signed books and a new passion for reading.
