Class of 2024 achieve 100% pass rate

Students from Wolverhampton Grammar School consistently do well in examinations across our extensive range of subjects; the Class of 2024 upheld this tradition with impressive results.

An impressive 20% of our 2024 A Level cohort were awarded an A*, with six students achieving straight A*s. Over 42% of grades achieved were A* to A, with 70% achieving A* to B grades. This strong performance mirrors last year's stellar results, which recently earned WGS recognition as the top performing Sixth Form in Wolverhampton, showcasing the unwavering determination and hard work of all the students.

All students who pursued Cambridge Technical qualifications in Sport and Physical Education or Information Technology excelled, with 100% of students in the latter gaining at least a distinction.

We congratulate all our Sixth Formers on their outstanding results at A Level and Cambridge Technical, which has led them to securing places at prestigious universities, including Russell Group institutions, and on the most competitive courses including medicine, dentistry, engineering, architecture, law and computer science.

The results in brief:

  • 100% pass rate across all A Level and Cambridge Technical Qualifications
  • 42% A* and A awarded at A Level
  • 70% A* – B awarded at A Level
  • 100% of students gained a Merit or higher in the Cambridge Technicals
  • 6 students achieved straight A*s at A Level
  • 100% of Cambridge Technical Information Technology candidates achieved a distinction

Reflecting on the performance of this year’s cohort, Head Nic Anderson comments,

I am so pleased that we can celebrate stellar results again this year.  All students have worked incredibly hard, and these excellent results are a testament to their relentless dedication, determination and drive.

We wholeheartedly share in the pride that our student’s family and friends will be feeling today, and we wish all our departing students every success as they leave us.  I must also extend my thanks and congratulations to the talented staff here at WGS.
