WGS Students Network with Industry Leaders at Careers Fair
At Wolverhampton Grammar School, preparing our students for their future careers is a key priority. Our students have regular access to workplace visits, industry speakers and work experience in a range of sectors.
To further support our students in developing key employability skills, and to prepare them with good employment networks, students in Years 9 – 13 attended a Careers and Networking Fair on Thursday 11th April 2024.
This event hosted a wealth of course providers from further education, higher education and apprenticeship providers. In addition, there were a range of employers representing a number of employment sectors, including healthcare, finance, law, IT, engineering, creative industries and the public services.
We were delighted to host employers from industry-leading companies, such as PwC, Deloitte, Jaguar Land Rover, Tecman, Jimmy Choo and Atkins Global amongst many others. Our students were highly commended on their professional etiquette and confident communication with all guests who attended.
“Allowing our students to network professionally is so important. We must ensure that they have a good bank of contacts to approach for career development opportunities whilst they are with us, and more importantly, for when they leave and start their life beyond WGS. Allowing our students the opportunity to start networking in Year 9 gives them sufficient time to build a robust network by the time they leave school. Our students thoroughly enjoy events like this. They love employer encounters and learning about future course opportunities and really appreciate the importance of investing in their career development.”
