Affectionately known as WGS, Wolverhampton Grammar School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 4 to 18 years.

Art, music and drama to fuel our creativity

From the moment your child first joins us, be that in the Juniors, Seniors, or Sixth Form, there will be multiple opportunities to participate in the Arts at WGS.

Junior School students enjoy weekly Art lessons and Music is taught by a subject specialist from Reception upwards, with access to the Music block and recital rooms from Year 4. Across the School, extra-curricular activities include 1:1 instrumental lessons and group speech and drama, with impressive grades achieved in LAMDA examinations.

The joy of treading the boards is experienced by all – from infant nativities and school plays in the Junior School to Dance Shows and Lower and Senior School productions in our on-site Hutton Theatre. Also housed within the Hutton building is the Art Studio, Mac Suite for graphic design and Viner Art Gallery, all inspiring facilities that spark creativity.

Music is the heartbeat of the School and individual lessons are offered from Year 2 upwards. Music ensembles and choirs are open to all and regular performance opportunities and music tours help to grow confidence and showcase talent.
