Outstanding Results for WGS Physics Students in National Competition

Teacher of Physics, Mrs Wainwright, is extremely proud of her senior Physics students who scored highly in the prestigious annual Physics Challenge Online recently. The challenge is part of the UK Physics Olympiad suite of competitions run by Oxford University, and tests subject knowledge and critical thinking abilities.

This year, 13 Year 12 students entered the Senior Challenge and 16 Year 11 students entered the Intermediate Challenge. Out of nearly 5,000+ students in each Challenge, six WGS students secured the Gold Award meaning they were placed in the top 16.8% of the country. A further 14 students gained a Silver Award and 10 their Bronze Award.

These outstanding results are a testament to the dedication of our students and the commitment of our Physics department in providing students with opportunities to challenge themselves and deepen their understanding of the subject.

Many thanks to Mrs Wainwright for co-ordinating and supporting this year’s entries and congratulations to all our students on a successful competition!
