Students and staff challenge themselves for charity

The 2022 Bridgnorth Walk & Marathon events on Monday 2nd May brought some fantastic achievements for both students and staff at Wolverhampton Grammar School.

Year 8 student, Charlie, and Year 6 student, Hattie, both took on the challenging 7-mile Junior course. Charlie ran the course in 1 hour and 18 minutes, finishing 8th overall, and Hattie walked, raising over £300 for her chosen charity, Rainbow Dog Rescue in Wombourne.

Further congratulations go to staff members Mrs Young who was the 20th female to finish the main 22-mile event, coming 8th in her category, and to Mr Martin who finished 27th overall.

Both courses challenge participants to take on the notorious Brown Clee, the highest hill in Shropshire, with a staggering 375 metre climb.

Established in 1967, the Bridgnorth walk is a popular annual event that stretches through the Shropshire countryside and regularly raises over £100,000 for local, national and international charities. This year, event organisers encouraged those who did not have chosen charities to raise money for Ukranian aid charities.
