Good nutrition in the early years is vital. Children’s early experiences of food play an important part in shaping later eating habits, and good eating habits support healthy growth and development. We recognise the importance of giving children a nutritionally balanced diet and, as a School we are in a unique position to make a difference.
Lunch in our Junior School is compulsory for all children. In addition to enjoying a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch (from menus that are specifically designed with Junior School children in mind), children also have fresh fruit and juice available for them at breaktimes and after School (for children attending after school clubs).
We understand that as students develop through Senior School, our role is to ensure they eat a sufficiently balanced diet to support them in their academic and sporting activities. We also recognise the importance of social interaction and with this in mind, have invested heavily in our purpose built Derry Hall and outside eating spaces including picnic benches and a Tuck Shop.
A School provided lunch in the Senior School is optional. Students who choose to bring their own lunch also eat in the Derry Hall (or outside in our grounds if the weather permits).
Grab and Go lunches are also on offer for students who have lunchtime commitments, extra-curricular clubs or afternoon sports fixtures.
A Tuck Shop is also available to students during break time and lunch time.
Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre includes a purpose built café area, offering a more sophisticated break and lunch time service (very similar to a High Street retail offer). This high street style café environment also includes a social space to ensure our Sixth Formers feel comfortable and relaxed.
