Wolverhampton Grammar School shortlisted for another National Award

Wolverhampton Grammar School has once again made the shortlist for an award arranged by the national membership association AMCIS (Admissions, Marketing and Communications in Independent Schools), which is membered by over 500 independent schools throughout the United Kingdom.

This year there are six awards, and Wolverhampton Grammar School has been shortlisted for the Partnership/Outreach Impact Award. This is due to the exceptional efforts of Head Librarian, Mrs Rowley, and her colleague Mr McAllister in developing strong relationships with local primary and secondary schools, founded on a love of reading and writing.

Over recent years, Mrs Rowley and Mr McAllister’s achievements have included the launch of the Wolverhampton Young Author’s Prize, the maintenance of the successful Wolverhampton Children’s Book Award and the hosting of several virtual and in person author events. The School’s most notable visitors have included international bestselling writer and illustrator of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Jeff Kinney, and award-winning writer and former Children’s Laureate, Julia Donaldson (author of The Gruffalo).

Mrs Rowley commented “We are delighted that our efforts have been recognised on a national scale. We hope that we can continue to host such spectacular author events, and by doing so strengthen our relationships with local schools and ultimately inspire a generation to read and write for pleasure.”

The winner shall be announced at the 2022 AMCIS Annual Conference Dinner on Monday 9th May. We wish Mrs Rowley and Mr McAllister the very best of luck!
