Former Wolverhampton Grammar School student Frank Jenkins (OW 1946) is a bit of a news sensation due to his success on the tennis court. Frank maybe turning 90 next year but he has no plans to give up playing tennis.
A member of Tettenhall Tennis Club (for the past 40 years) and Albert Lawn Tennis Club, Frank was ranked 11th best tennis player in the world for his age group – the-over-85s – when he joined the circuit aged 84. And last year was in the top 20.
Frank competes in six tournaments a year. Having just competed in Italy, he will be off to Bournemouth next, then Switzerland, Cheltenham, and Eastbourne before finding out if he has made the world final to be held in Croatia in October.
What a wonderful message for our current students … age is no barrier!
