It’s been a year of stellar results for Sixth Form students at Wolverhampton Grammar School.
The results in brief:
- 100% pass rate for all A Level students
- 235 A levels awarded this year
- A third of all students achieved A*- A results
- 88% of all grades awarded were A*- C (or equivalent)
Students from the national award winning school have yet again achieved outstanding results securing places at the very best universities on highly competitive courses as diverse as Medicine, Architecture, Maths and Engineering at universities including Oxford, University of Birmingham, Bath, Manchester and UCL.
Results and pass rates for the school are well above the national average for both state and independent schools. Last year, the school was top of the exam league tables in Wolverhampton and top 25 in the league tables for national independent school GCSE results.
“To achieve the top grade of A* takes a combination of excellent teaching, hard work and determination. For so many of our students to achieve an A* or A is a credit to their brilliant teachers and the extraordinary pastoral support in place at Wolverhampton Grammar School.
Competition between the very best universities is incredibly intense this year following the lifting of the cap on student numbers and a national dip in the population of 18 year olds. All this, of course, alongside the third year tranche of Government reformed A Levels for students across England and Wales” comments Kathy Crewe-Read, Head of Wolverhampton Grammar School.
Wolverhampton Grammar School always has an expert team in place over the coming weeks for students and their families to talk through exam results, grade boundaries and post results services. Just one of the reasons this national award winning school was judged “Excellent” in all areas following an inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Sixth Form students have the opportunity to study at least three subjects at Sixth Form, with some choosing to go the extra mile with a fourth subject.
As well as A levels, students at the School achieved fantastic success in Cambridge Technical qualifications and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Students also have access to over 100 extra and co-curricular activities – the largest range clubs and societies available locally. This ensures that with increased pressure for the best university places our students have a broad range of A level choices to choose from and the skills to make them attractive to employers and universities alike.
