Wolverhampton Grammar School is offering a Sports Scholarship to fund a place in Sixth Form from September 2017. 

The Old Wulfrunian (OW) Sports Scholarship is equivalent to one full fee paying place in Sixth Form. To apply, Year 11 students must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Live in the Wolverhampton postcode (WV) area;
  • Able to join the school at age 16 (Year 12);
  • Have strong sporting ability demonstrated through one of the following:
    • County/Regional/National representation at their chosen sport
    • Member of Elite group and / or Academy linked to a professional sporting club or organisation
    • National ranking in their chosen sport

Sports-Scholarship-posterThe OW Sports Scholarship is a means tested award and is equivalent to one full fee paying place to be offered to a student (or students) who fulfil the above criteria. Awards may vary according to the level of family income, however to be considered for the OW Sports Scholarship, as an indicative guideline the family’s household income should be in the region of £60,000 per annum.

The student who is awarded the OW Sports Scholarship must fulfil the criteria for entry into the Sixth Form and undertake an interview with the Head of Sixth Form and the Head of Boys’ and/or Girls’ Games as appropriate.

Wolverhampton Grammar School already has a number of students who compete regionally, nationally and even internationally in a range of sports including rounders, dressage, cricket, rugby, cross country, badminton and karate.

The Sports Scholar will be expected to make a significant contribution to the sporting life here at the school and to be available to represent their school in competitive matches and for relevant training sessions as required.
