The 2017 squad: Anya Stojanovic, Jordan Russell, Amrit Gakhal, Nina Sidhu, Freya Thompson, Ed Bill, Harry Froggat, Harry Calloway, Seb Jones and Theo Crewe-Read raised an impressive £4618.76 for Adoption UK – the leading charity providing support, awareness and understanding for those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents. The team handed over their cheque to Becky Guest, Adoption UK Support Group Coordinator for the Black Country (pictured below).
Many thanks to company sponsors including Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd, the Blakemore Foundation, Premier Sports and Tarmac for their generous support.
Members of the 2018 squad officially accepted the Coast2Coast challenge from representatives of the 2017 squad. Good luck to Sophie Alexander, Lizzie Anderson, Serina Basra, Katie Evans, Adam Gregory, Jed Hathaway, Samual Jones, Oliver Mason, Dominic Sage, Tom Wainwright and Ben Ward who have chosen to support Promise Dreams – the national charity aiming to make a real difference to children who are seriously or terminally ill.
As last year, the squad will complete sixteen weeks of extreme training with staff as they prepare for the arduous 187 miles from St Bee’s Head in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire. Supported by a School support bus and a team of staff the squad will run in continuous relay as they cover Wainwright’s famous walking trail over three spectacular National Parks (the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors). The challenge should be completed in 24 hours.
