The annual Wolverhampton Grammar School Captains XI match hosted by Peter Hills was played in near perfect cricketing conditions and produced a grandstand finish with the School team defeating the Captains with just 3 balls to spare.

The sides were Captained by brothers Patel in the presence of Mum and Dad; a truly family occasion.  A bumper crowd of parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren and teaching staff enjoyed the sun, refreshments and the exhilarating match.  It was good to welcome former Deputy Head, David Lambourne, back to Moreton’s Piece a place at which he had spent many hours during his time at Wolverhampton Grammar School.

The final score was Captains 221 for 6 with Stuart Druary scoring 50 ably supported by significant contributions from Aaron Patel and Clive Kay. School 222 for 6 with Oisin Singh making 85 and Archie O’Hara 35. Assistant Head, Alex Yarnley, with support from Tom Clinton ensure that the school achieved the narrow victory.
