Students from Wolverhampton Grammar School are celebrating this week as they receive a collection of outstanding A Level exam results.

Subject areas including French, German, Art, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Classics, English Language, English Literature, Economics, Further Maths, Government & Politics, General Studies, Geography, History, ICT, Italian, Latin, Music, PE, Psychology, Religious Studies and Theatre Studies have all achieved a 100% pass rate this year.

Wolverhampton Grammar School Sixth Formers have achieved an overall 99.3% pass rate with over a third achieving coveted A* or A grades in one to three subjects. 90% of all A level passes at Wolverhampton Grammar School at grades A* – C. All well above the national average and securing our place as Wolverhampton’s top Independent School.

89 Upper Sixth Form students have studied towards an impressive total of 271 A levels this year across a diverse and broad range of subject areas. All students have the opportunity to study at least three A levels at Wolverhampton Grammar School, with some choosing to go the extra mile with a fourth subject.

“It’s another fantastic year as our students secure their place at a range of excellent universities including Oxford and Cambridge with a diverse range of undergraduate degrees ahead of them” comments Kathy Crewe-Read, Head of Wolverhampton Grammar School.

She added, “Despite national concerns about the impact of changes to curriculum and appeals, our students and teachers have yet again achieved exceptional results.”

As well as A level subjects, students at the school also get the opportunity to undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and have access to over 100 extra and co-curricular activities – the largest range clubs and societies available locally. This ensures that with increased pressure for the best university places our students have a broad range of A level choices to choose from and the skills to make them attractive to employers and Universities alike.

Wolverhampton Grammar School is one of the leading co-educational independent schools in the region and the top independent school in Wolverhampton. Students celebrating A level success this week represent all those talented, hard working graduates from Wolverhampton Grammar School who go on to contribute so much to society.

  1. So lovely to see Jack – your Head Boy – receiving his results with his mum – Helen.
Helen and I were taught at Bilston Girls’ High in the days of Miss Mottershead ( and we are still good friends) and my dad was long-time acting Head at Bilston Boys’ Grammar. My nieces both went to Wolverhampton Girls’ High thence Durham University.

Jack is coming to Bristol – rather near us – we live in Bath – to read Politics and Philosophy. Just talking to Justin Adams – our neighbour – today. We were discussing various forms of schooling. He was at Eton – now there’s selection – but is it a Grammar School? and he now plays with Robert Plant – another great Midlander. What a small world!

    Well done Jack!!
